Emergency calls
In the EU member states, including Austria, you can ask for help on the
112 European emergency number day and night.
The phone number can also be dialed from a network or from a wireless mobile phone. The call runs to the police station
where they will be sent to the ambulance or the fire department. The caller must provide four basic information: the
caller's name, location, event and number of injured persons.
In addition, in Austria, people with disabilities, can send for a free SMS message at
0800 133 133, too. The SMS
message will be converted to Telecom Austria by fax, and sent to the center of Vienna. An email address was also created
(gehoerlosennotruf@polizei.vb.at), where disabled people can also ask for police or other help.
